Elements for Life Cacao and Goji Product Review

Time for another product review!

Because I’m hosting a chocolate-making meetup at my place this Sunday (note: more people have RSVPed YES to this meetup than any other meetup I’ve had so far–too funny), I decided to cover the cacao products today.  This means the cacao nibs, cacao powder, and the Fruity Cacao.
The products that I’ll be comparing these products to will be of a company whose organic superfoods I’ve been buying for the past year and a half on Amazon.com, due to the price and free shipping I get with Amazon.  I’ve always been pretty happy with this company’s superfoods until now (as you’ll soon read).  I’ve chosen to refer to this company as company X.
Cacao Nibs—These are pretty much the same as far as I can tell, although I do notice significantly less cacao shell pieces in the bag.  With company X’s, I’ve been unpleasantly surprised more than a few times biting into a shell!
Cacao Powder—EFL’s powder is a lot finer and a LOT more fragrant (maybe because it’s fresher?) than company X’s.  I’ll definitely be using this stuff to make my chocolate this weekend. (I may stir some nibs in there as well to make my own “Cacao Nibby”—like Sacred Chocolate’s too!).  Sometimes I can satisfy my chocolate craving just by opening this bag and inhaling!

Fruity Cacao—this is hands down my favorite cacao product.  It’s softer, less harsh, or bitter, and sweeter than peeled cacao beans.  You can eat it by itself , really.  I like to eat it with some gojis still though.  Also, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I find Fruity Cacao beans to be less stimulating on my body than the same volume of cacao nibs would be.   No jitters, no racing heart, no hyperness.  Which is a good thing because that means I can eat them at night and still get some SLEEP.  Woohoo!  This may be a good question to ask David Wolfe on The Best Day Ever…What is with the Fruity Cacao?

David Wolfe on Cacao:

Gojis—I am now officially spoiled on Elements for Life’s goji berries.  I can never go back to company X’s again.  It’s really funny because I ran out of them last week and HAD to order 1 lb of company X’s gojis on Amazon and they truly are not even close to the quality and taste of the EFL’s.  The one’s I just got on Amazon almost smell and taste alcohol-like to me now.  I’m not sure why.  But the EFL gojis smell fresh, sweet , and are super-moist and almost shiny.  They’re very fresh.  I’m going to have to give these gojis away once my EFL gojis arrive…

David Wolfe on Goji Berries:

Anyway, I’ve never gotten into buying products from www.sunfood.com because of the premium prices but from what I understand, Elements for Life uses the same supplier as them.  I know David Wolfe has the highest standards for quality, so I now know what the highest possible quality tastes like.  There’s no going back now.

Have any of you that have tried the EFL cacao and goji products noticed these things?  Let me know in your comments!

I’ll let you know how the Chocolate making meetup went next week.  I try my best to take a lot pics.  I may even make a Youtube video!

Have a wonderful weekend.  It’s another weekend of filming for the DVD for me ?
