Raw Food Around-the-Community Updates

Hi Guys!  I thought I’d do something different today and post some interesting updates I’ve been seeing around the raw food web 2.0 community (aka Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc).

First is Paul Nisen’s announcement that he is no longer 100% raw or 100% vegan (see the video below).  Why is this so interesting?  Because a lot of people have looked up to Paul and followed him throughout the years as a raw food expert and now his is no longer a 100% raw foodist (he has written several books on raw food-my favorite was his book of interviews).  It’s surprising news, yes, but I think this seems more shocking to many than it really needs to be.  Actually – some friends and I have been seeing this happen more and more in the raw food community – people are listening to their bodies and intuition more than ever before if the 100% raw and 100% vegan diet has not been jiving with them.  And this is totally okay! The goal can still be high-raw and high-vegan.  In my humble option, the up-and-coming health authorities such as Daniel Vitalis make a good point when they say that leaving out an entire kingdom (i.e. the animal kingdom) out of your diet may lead to deficiencies.

My advice? Trust your intuition or see a naturopath or someone who can test you for deficiencies accurately.  Know that there is a middle ground to eating animal flesh and being 100% vegan.  LOTS of middle ground :)

I like always refer to what I first heard David Wolfe say years ago: “One man’s panacea is another man’s poison, one mans’ poison is another man’s panacea (heaven).”  The bottom line is that not everyone is going to fit right in to a 100% raw vegan diet.  The lifestyle – yes, the actual 100% diet – maybe not.

(If you prefer to watch Paul’s video on youtube and read all the mainly positive comments and feedback Paul got for this video, click here and it will open in another window.)

Here is a nice video of Kevin and Annmarie Gianni from Renegade Health commenting on Paul Nison and also Victoria Boutenko’s recent “coming out.”  I’m totally with them!  It’s so refreshing that it’s now accepted that raw foodist does not mean 100% raw and vegan.  It can simply mean someone who’s into living the lifestyle or wanting to live the lifestlyle.

What’s also refreshing to me is that Paul and Victoria are pretty influential in the raw food world, so this is most likely going to make a lot of people feel A LOT better about what they’re eating.  And feeling better about what your eating = better health for you when you eat it :)

Okay so the last video I wanted to share isn’t exactly related to raw food but a recent inspiring person to me and millions of others just passed away this week – Jim Rohn.  Here is a wonderful video of his philosophies that I would love to share with you if you’re not already familiar with him.

The raw food diet and lifestyle is not just about “dieting” – it’s about self-improvement and personal development.  Our focus here is mainly on the physical plane but let’s not forget about the physiological part of ourselves too.  We must strive for balance.   Just imagine what giving our personal development as much attention as we give our food and bodies would do on our planet!  Pick whatever path works for you to better yourself mentally and spiritually and find some tips, inspiration, and support there too :)

Here is a link to Jim Rohn’s site and to read more about his tribute.
