So here’s the fun part: giving your kitchen a raw makeover! It can be a bit expensive so just do a bit one week at a time. Start rewarding yourself with new kitchen tools and get ingredients only as you come across new recipes that sound delicious to you!
*FYI: all of the amazon products that I’m recommending on this site are items that I have gotten or that I get on a regular basis. I never pay shipping because these items are all super shipper saving marked. So if you spend at least $25 in theses items, you pay NO shipping :)
Shifting Your Kitchen
Tips:
Make it a place you love to be in and get energy from
Keep plenty of food on hand, especially your favorite fruits and vegetables.
It’s easy if you can make the food just twice a week (lasts 3-4 days in the fridge)
Go through your kitchen and get rid of some of that Frankenstein food :)
Detox you kitchen by replacing junk you’re eliminating with raw transition foods. Leave designated areas for foods family members are not ready to part with, of course.
You don’t/won’t have to buy everything at once-you’ll buy them when you find recipes you want to make that require them.
Save jars from nut butters, pickles, etc. for future smoothies, nut milks, puddings, soaking seeds, etc.
Essential Equipment Staples
(You actually need much less equipment to do raw food than you need to do cooked food!)
Small Blender: something like the Magic Bullet is perfect to start out with because you can use it as a food processor and nut grinder too (I’d recommend getting one from Amazon because there is free shipping on it).
Optional/Extra Equipment Staples
Vitamix or similar high power blender. Also see here.
Juicer. I used to have the Green Star but found it was too much of a pain to use so I bought a Breville Elite in October 2008. Again, the best deal I found was on Amazon.
