Takeaways from the Raw Spirit Festival
Monday, September 22nd, 2008 at 11:40 amHi All,
I decided to do a post on the notes I wrote down from attending various lectures at the raw spirit fest. I wish I took more notes but I was enjoying myself too much! (Attention Dialed to a Higher Dimension, as Chad Russel from Elements for Life said.)
Of course, take what you want and leave the rest; we’re all searching for our own truths and it is always a bit hard when everyone is saying something different from one another.
From Jameth Sheridan:
-Miso, Tamari, and sea veggies are the best ways to get in sodium. Nama Shoyu and Braggs Aminos are out because of the gluten.
-If you don’t include any sodium in your diet, you may start to crave meat and animal products (like he did when experimenting with no-salt whatsoever). He even started craving steak juice–don’t worry, he never gave in.
-Water fasting is counter-productive. Juice cleansing in combination with colonics and enemas is best.
From Bridgette Mars (she spoke on addictions):
-To overcome coffee addiction—essential oils of cardamom and cinnamon can help
-To overcome smoking—chewing on licorice roots or cinnamon sticks can help as well as smelling essential oils of black pepper
-To overcome alcohol addiction—sucking on whole cloves in your mouth can help
-People are generally addicted to what they’re allergic to.
-To overcome sugar addiction—blue green algae and spirulina can help tremendously
David Wolfe
-If you have a Vitamix blender and are using garlic, leave the garlic peels on the cloves for more nutrition.
Laughter Yogi
-Get happy-live long and never get cancer. Laughter is the secret! (see video above for the experience)
This is a pathetic amount of notes, I know, but I really didn’t feel like being a note taker that weekend. Also, I wasn’t really there to learn as much as I was to connect with everyone, hangout with friends, check out new products and companies, network, and just be. Maybe next year I’ll take in more info ;)
Did you know what David Wolfe was in a reality TV show series called Mad Mad House? I had heard of this before, but never gotten to watch any of the shows Well just before the Raw Spirit Fest, I discovered this great website called Hulu.com had ALL of the archived episods available for for free. I watched them all within a matter of 7 or 8 days and loved them! I’ve never been so hooked on reality tv. I thought it was great and David was truly David (or Avocado) the whole time. He really stayed true to his character as we know him and you could even see his personality rubbing off on the others in the house :) Check it out if you want some fun entertainment while you’re eating your lunch or dinner and let me know what you think (although some parts were too much to watch while eating—you’ll see why!)
